When we moved all the dogs out at the beginning of January, they went to a local boarding kennel/rescue.
We had had some dealings with them and even let them use the vet room. However when we left the dogs there we could have all cried. Even though we had taken all our wooden beds and bedding, it was clear that the dogs would not be staying.
It was disgusting. No running water, the stench was over powering and she even dumped all the dog poo straight into the river Trent.
There were cats all over the place and I was horrified when she said “oh it doesn’t matter if they kill them, it’s happened before and will no doubt happen again.”
It bloody well does matter.
After 3 days of frantically ringing around we placed them all at Askern Greyhound Stadium. We picked them all up from the hell hole, Edward actually collapsed he was that exhausted. We had our own block at the stadium. We fed them all and were going to take them for a walk around the 2 acre field. When we had washed the bowls and got sorted we went to get them. No chance. They were all fast, fast asleep.
Our staff from here went every day and whilst we were there we also managed to get another 6 dogs that could have ended up anywhere. Going forward, we will be working closely with the stadium to get more dogs saved.
That is all i care about.
I know some people will be all over this post trying to find fault, calling me this that and the other. I don’t care what you think, not one little teeny tiny bit…
